"Schalken, The Painter" - Scene V - The Dream

 It's a pleasure to welcome you back to my blog to explore the design of one of the other photographs in "Schalken the Painter".

 C'est un plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau sur mon blog pour explorer la conception d'une des autres photographies de « Schalken le Peintre ».

The image I'm about to talk to you about is that of a dream, or a nightmare, unless Schalken was awake, but in a second state... Somewhere between wakefulness and sleep, where the boundaries between reality and fantasy gradually blur.

L'image dont je vais vous parler correspond à un rêve, ou à un cauchemar, à moins que Schalken fut éveillé, mais dans un état second... Quelque part entre la veille et le sommeil, où les limites entre la réalité et l'imaginaire s'effacent progressivement.

As for me, I was in the flesh with Thomas and Enola in an enchanting place known as Sainte Barbe du Faouet, nestling in the Morbihan.

This chapel, both extraordinary and mysterious in its design, offers a unique experience. To reach it, we pass over a plateau overlooking the chapel, putting us at the height of its roof, before descending to its height via a majestic Renaissance-style staircase dating from 1700. The chapel itself was built in the 16th century.

J'étais quant à moi, en chair et en os avec Thomas et Enola dans un endroit enchanteur connu sous le nom de Sainte Barbe du Faouet, niché dans le Morbihan.

Cette chapelle, à la fois extraordinaire et mystérieuse par sa conception, offre une expérience unique. Pour y accéder, nous passons sur un plateau surplombant la chapelle, nous plaçant ainsi à la hauteur de son toit, avant de descendre à sa hauteur grâce à un majestueux escalier de style Renaissance datant de 1700. Quant à la chapelle, elle a été érigée au XVIe siècle.

If you're in the area, go and see it! It's well worth a visit, and you can even see inside. The surrounding area is equally charming.

Si vous passez dans le coin, allez la voir ! Elle vaut vraiment le coup d’œil et l'on peut même visiter l’intérieur. Les alentours sont également charmants.

It's a place that has always impressed and inspired me. Some time ago, I did a series of photos there on the myth of Persephone.

C'est un lieu qui m'a toujours impressionnée et inspirée. J'y avais déjà réalisé une série de photos sur le mythe de Persephone, il y a quelque temps maintenant.

So the four of us set off on this adventure: Enola, Thomas, Yoann and myself. It was a glorious day, and I had meticulously prepared our arrival at the site to take advantage of the 'golden hour', that magical time. Unluckily, as we arrived, a curtain of rain suddenly unfurled, accompanied by an unwelcoming fresh wind, leaving us to face an unexpected weather contingency." What a bummer!

Ainsi, nous nous sommes lancés dans cette aventure à quatre : Enola, Thomas, Yoann et moi-même. La journée était radieuse, et j'avais minutieusement préparé notre arrivée sur le site pour profiter de la « golden hour », cette période magique. Manque de chance, à notre arrivée, un rideau de pluie s'est soudainement déployé, accompagné d'un vent frais peu accueillant, nous laissant face à un imprévu météorologique inattendu." Quelle poisse !

We took the opportunity to stop and eat some crêpes and hot chocolates, right next to the chapel, while we waited for the weather to clear. With my models under cover, I went to prepare the equipment so that we could get down to business as soon as the rain stopped.

Nous en avons profité pour nous arrêter manger des crêpes et quelques chocolats chauds, juste à côté de la chapelle, en attendant que le temps soit plus clément. Mes modèles à l’abri, je suis allée préparer le matériel pour que nous puissions passer à l'action dès que la pluie s’arrêterait.

Luckily, we had some sunshine! But I'd like to say a big thank you to my two models (and I'm thinking of you Enola in your little white dress) who braved the cold to take this photo!

Par chance, nous avons eu une éclaircie ! Mais je remercie vivement mes deux modèles (et je pense beaucoup à toi Enola dans ta petite robe blanche) qui ont bravé le froid le temps de la réalisation de la photographie !

Although I use a weather application to avoid this kind of inconvenience, there are sometimes a few surprises. 

To finish on a positive note, that little breeze was still very effective in diffusing the smoke from the smoke generator!

J'ai beau utiliser une application météorologique pour éviter ce genre de désagrément, il y a parfois quelques surprises. 

Pour finir sur une note positive, ce petit vent était quand même bien efficace pour diffuser la fumée du fumigène !

Way too much smoke! - Beaucoup trop de fumée !
