Fairy Tales

On Friday, the day was less tiring. We went quietly to enjoy the freshness of the exceptional "Wistman's wood", a dwarf forest, which grows extremely slowly. A true witch's wood, a perfect scenery for a fairy tale (highly inspiring)! We planned to make artistic photos. 

 

 

In the afternoon, we met Virginia Lee, a sculptor and illustrator who lives in the Dartmoor, for a tea (green!).

We were joined a little later by David Wyatt, another illustrator, as well as Jason Of England, a goldsmith. The table was finally enlarged, welcoming Jason's family and a friend of theirs. Finally, Alan Lee, the official illustrator of J.R.R Tolkien and "lead concept artist" on the "Lord of the Rings" and "Bilbo the Hobbit" by Peter Jackson joined us a little later.

We had a lovely time on the terrace, in the sunshine, in a haunted pub.

In the evening we attended a concert of traditional medieval music, and Scandinavian folk in a Chagford pub.

Ce vendredi, la journée fut plus légère. Nous sommes allés tranquillement profiter de la fraicheur de l’exceptionnelle « Wistman’s wood », une forêt naine, qui pousse extrêmement lentement. Un véritable bois de sorcière, un décor parfait pour un conte de fée (hautement inspirant) ! Nous avions prévu d’y réaliser des photos artistiques à notre grande joie.

L’après-midi, nous avons retrouvé Virginia Lee, une sculpteur et illustratrice qui vit dans le Dartmoor, pour un thé (vert !) 😄

Nous avons été rejoint un peu plus tard par David Wyatt, un autre illustrateur, ainsi que Jason Ofengland, un orfèvre. La tablée s’est finalement agrandie, accueillant la famille de Jason et une amie à eux. Finalement, Alan Lee, l’illustrateur officiel de J.R.R Tolkien et « lead concept artist » sur le « Seigneur des Anneaux » et « Bilbo le Hobbit » de Peter Jackson nous a retrouvé un peu plus tard.

Nous avons passé un très agréable moment en terrasse, au soleil, dans un pub hanté (sacrés Anglais 😉).

Dans la soirée, nous avons assisté à un concert de musique traditionnelle médiévale, et de folk scandinave dans un pub de Chagford.
